THE TECHNOLOGY
How laser cleaning works.
A technology that uses only light to remove what shouldn't be there — and leaves everything else untouched.
HOW IT WORKS
The principle: laser ablation.
The process is called laser ablation: a high-intensity pulsed light beam is directed at the surface being treated. The surface layer — rust, paint, pollution film, biological growth, organic residue — absorbs the laser's energy and evaporates instantly, with no diffuse heat and no mechanical contact. The base material underneath, which reflects energy differently from the layer being removed, stays unchanged. This isn't a cutting laser — it's a laser calibrated to stop exactly where it should.
THE SYSTEM
Built for real working conditions.
Our systems are built for real working conditions: a compact, air-cooled, transportable laser source connected via fiber optic to a handheld unit. The operator controls power, frequency, and pulse duration based on the material and the type of contamination.

Laser vs. traditional methods.
| VANGUARDIA Laser Cleaning | Sandblasting / hydroblasting | Chemical stripping | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface contact | None | Abrasive | Chemical |
| Waste to dispose of | None | Spent abrasive material | Toxic solvents and runoff |
| Risk to base material | Minimal, calibrated parameters | Risk of erosion/damage | Risk of corrosion/alteration |
| Environmental impact | No chemicals | Dust, waste material | Hazardous substances |
| Downtime | Minimal, often no interruption | Requires containment areas | Requires ventilation/disposal |
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
Safe for operators, clients and the environment.
Every VANGUARDIA machine is CE-certified and equipped with a HEPA fume extraction system to protect air quality in the work area. Every operator — ours, or the client's own team adopting our systems — is trained through a TSL pathway compliant with D.Lgs 81/08, with final certification.
